Competitive Dance

competition-2bThe Muskoka Dance Academy has been training competitive dancers for 40 years and has had success internationally in North America and abroad.  Our Competitive dancers are known for their unique abilities, professionalism and technical training.  Many company members have gone on to work world wide in the dance art industry on stage, television and in film.

Training:
The MDA specializes in intense dance training in all disciplines using two body conditioning techniques called the Paula Morgan Technique (PMT) and Acrobatic Arts (AA). These two training Syllabi together with Ballet Exams produce elite results. We work to develop optimal strength, alignment and agility.

Companies:
Dancers are divided into companies based on technical ability, maturity and age. Dancers are provided with a wide range of classes and encouraged to train in a variety of disciplines.

Opportunities:
DisneyCompetitions, workshops and a variety of scheduled events help to develop training, performance and experience. An International Convention and/or Competition is an option available every two years providing world wide travel opportunities to places such as; Walt Disney World,  Las Vegas, Spain, New York City, Myrtle Beach and Pennsylvania.

Competition Showcase:
The MDA Competitive Team hosts an annual “Competition Showcase” Fundraiser in the spring, usually at the Algonquin Theatre in Huntsville. This is an opportunity for the Team to showcase their competition routines locally in front of family and friends before they start their competitive season. Competitions begin in early April and end mid May.
