The Muskoka Dance Academy works together with Winning Techniques Sports Camp to offer TWO fabulous weeks of Intensive Dance Training in the summer. These weeks are explosive and fun, featuring professional guest teachers on one special day. Tanya Karn (Make It Pop), Jennie Pappas (Chloe) and Bree Wasylenko (Miss Kate) on The Next Step) are examples of Guest Teachers in previous years. Classes are given in Conditioning & Technique, Ballet, Acrobatic Arts, Musical Theatre, Jazz, Hip Hop, Aerial Silks/Hoop, Contemporary and more. Here is dancer, Owen’s Camp Review;

TWO WEEKS IN AUGUST
Dance Weeks run Monday through Friday 9am-1pm. Cost is $350.00 per week (includes HST and daily snacks/drinks).
*Guest Teacher Drop In Day Fee $125.00 (incls HST) for anyone not already registered for the full dance week. Weekly Schedule includes Cardio Warm Up, Technique and Conditioning, Jazz, Hip Hop, Jumps & Turns, Lyrical, Contemporary, Acro and Tumble, Musical Theatre, Cabaret, Yoga, Improvisation techniques, Guest Teacher Event.

Bree Wasylenko (Contemporary)
Born and raised in Calgary, AB and started dancing at the tender age of 5. After moving to Toronto to pursue a professional dance career, Bree made the top 20 of “So You Think You Can Dance Canada” Season 3. She then went on to perform in hit television shows such as “Nikita”, “Bomb Girls”, “Baxter”, “Over The Rainbow”, “Canada’s Got Talent”, and as Ashley Tisdale’s body double in “Hellcats”. Her movie credits include “Make Your Move”, ABC’s “Desperately Seeking Santa”, and CTV’s “Turn The Beat Around”.
Bree has also worked behind the scenes as a choreographer on TV shows “Stay With Me” and “American Royalty”, as well as for the Pepperidge Farms “Feel the Crunch” Commercial. She has choreographed music videos for Sam Smith for MuchMusic’s “That Much Closer”, Shad’s “Remember 2 Remember”, as well as Carly Rae Jepsen’s performance at the 2012 MMVA’s. Bree has also choreographed events for various high profile companies, including Calvin Klein, CIBC, TIFF, and the City of Toronto’s “Cavalcade of Lights”. Along with Caroline Torti, she is Co-Director of Collective Elite Entertainment.
On top of dance and choreography, Bree has begun to explore the world of acting. Her breakout role is that of “Kate” in the hit Family Channel TV show “The Next Step”. She has also appeared in CW’s “Reign”, CBC’s “Murdoch Mysteries” and MuchMusic’s film “Alive”.
Julie Karn (Hip Hop)
Julie has been dancing since the age of 2, and has trained under an endless array of professional dancers and choreographers. She has achieved recognition and training from teachers such as Marty Kudelka, Nick Bass, Travis Wall, Nick Lazzarini, Brian Friedman, Blake McGrath, and many other talented professionals. In the past couple of years, Julie has been working as an assistant and dance teacher, at studios across the province in a variety of dance styles.
Julie began her professional dance career at the age of 14, when she performed in the Shawn Desman music video, “Shiver”, working with chorographers Luther Brown and Linda Garneau. Since then, she has danced and featured in an array of television shows, music videos, and live shows. She has worked with many successful artists and actors including Cascada, Shawn Desman, Kira Isabella, Mandia, the cast of The Next Step, KC Roberts and the Live Revolution, artists from The Next Star and many more! Her latest job was performing at the 2015 MMVA’s with both Nick Jonas and Jason Derulo, expanding her dance experience performing on live TV. Currently has danced for artist Mandia Nantsios, and has performed in many of her live shows as well as her music videos, “One Last Time” and “Rising Up”. Julie has also been an ID Ambassador for an American magazine that spotted her taking class in Los Angeles called, “Inside Dance Magazine”, which allows her to share her passion and knowledge of dance with students across the country.

A Package is available for a Winning Technique Afternoon Day Camp Experience for an extra $200/week (1pm-5:30pm includes HST, lunch, sporting activities and Camp transportation to and from Huntsville) .

WHY NOT BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE … DANCE MDA & WTC THIS SUMMER & LOVE IT!
The Muskoka Dance Academy introduced a new program to Muskoka in 2014 called Aerial Silks. Aerial Silks is part of both the Circus and Dance Arts Families combining; Acrobatics, Strength, Aerial Gymnastics and Theatre. Dancers learn to wrap themselves up in a beautiful silk fabric while suspended at various heights in the air. As dancers improve on strength and mobility they learn to climb higher and higher up 40′ of silk fabric.
One Week of Aerial Silks training is provided in August which includes Strength, Conditioning, Acro, Tumbling, Aerial Silk and Aerial Hoop Tricks. This camp is available for all ages 4+ and depending on enrollment, students will be divided into two groups based on age and ability.
